Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty that involves the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be either cosmetic (aesthetic) or reconstructive in nature. Cosmetic plastic surgery aims to enhance a person’s appearance, while reconstructive plastic surgery focuses on repairing defects or injuries to restore normal function and appearance. Common procedures include breast augmentation, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), and liposuction, among others.
Reconstructive Surgery
Reconstructive surgery is a subspecialty of plastic surgery that focuses on repairing or restoring functional and aesthetic aspects of the body. This type of surgery is often required after traumatic injuries, congenital deformities, or the removal of cancerous tissue. Reconstructive surgeons work to improve a patient’s quality of life and functionality. Procedures can include breast reconstruction after mastectomy, cleft lip and palate repair, and skin grafts for burn victims, among others.
Facio-maxillary Surgery
Facio-maxillary surgery, also known as maxillofacial surgery, is a surgical specialty that deals with the treatment of disorders, injuries, and deformities of the face, jaws, and oral cavity. This includes procedures related to the jawbones, facial bones, teeth, and associated structures. Common surgeries performed by facio-maxillary surgeons include orthognathic surgery (to correct jaw and facial imbalances), dental implant placement, and the treatment of facial trauma.
